THIS WEEK’S TREND AT STYLE ON SCREEN 26/08/14
Date: 26-08-2014, Author: Katie Smith, Categories: Celeb Style
We predicted back when this crazy series started that the Geordie Shore boys were the ones to watch. From tees and trainers to jumpers and jeans, the guys’ wardrobes have been a hotter topic than the girls! Newbie Aaron Chalmers has been the most popular since he arrived in the house. Like the rest of the lads, his style fan base is almost exclusively male. His black leather sleeved zip through hoodie picked up a lot of attention, and in the most recent episode he rocked a sold out Zara red cable knit sweater that had his followers tweeting like crazy (and with the AW collections arriving as we speak, there are plenty of alternative options for fans of his look). Aaron also turned heads with a bright orange jacket from Stone Island, as did his extensive collection of limited edition and custom Nike Air Max trainers. Gary and Scotty T on the other hand have been getting attention for their t-shirts. Both have been sporting a Vivienne Westwood Anglomania tee that has been very popular. Gaz also gained attention for his red and black colour block tee from Fi5th, and Scott for his Heart Breakers Club sugar skull tee. As for the super suave James, he wore a black leather sleeved bomber jacket in the first couple of episodes that is still attracting attention to this day. We love a trend that involves a male audience and Geordie Shore has become our biggest source for men’s fashion. Looks like the boys have thrown down the gauntlet in the Toon – your move girls!
Red Carpet Weekend!
It was an award show double whammy this weekend thanks to the VMAs and the Emmys, which meant a bucket load of red carpet fashion for us to drool over. So what was trending this weekend on the carpet, we hear you cry. Trickles of white from the BET Awards were still seeping through, as well as the old faithful embellishment trend. However Crop Tops and floor length skirts have emerged as the hottest red carpet look of 2014. At the VMAs, Jourdan Dunn, Lucy Hale and singer Becky G, all rocked black crop tops and black skirts on Sunday night’s carpet. Modern Family’s on screen sisters Sarah Hyland and Ariel Winter continued the trend at the Emmy’s, and injected a little more colour into the equation. Sarah’s custom Christian Siriano white crop top and red full skirt was an immediate contender for best dressed. Ariel worked the crop illusion in a cut out Black Halo Eve dress, complete with a striped floor length skirt. We love an unconventional red carpet look at Style On Screen, and this weekend’s #TrouserTrend is one of our favourites. Solange Knowles looked fierce in her H&M (yes… high street!) loose fitting suit. Miley rocked them too (she chose to pair her crop top with high waisted trousers, courtesy of Alexandre Vauthier), as did Gwen Stefani in the hottest pink imaginable. Robin Wright was a cut above the rest at the Emmys in an incredible white Ralph Lauren jumpsuit. Red was THE colour of the night at Monday’s Emmys with around 15 ladies opting for various shades. Among the best dressed – Heidi Klum’s sleek Zac Posen number, January Jones in an edgy Prabal Gurung look and Carolina Herrera clad Julia Louis-Dreyfus. All three ladies trended throughout the carpet, but it was SOS favourite Giuliana Rancic that hit the trend on the head before the show had even started! Thanks to a quick poll, our own followers voted her ‘Best in Red’ on Twitter. She seems to get it right every time!
Our Predictions – CBB
It goes without saying that Emma Willis is still Queen Bee over at Elstree, but there’s a few new girls in town that might give her a run for her money. January’s Celebrity Big Brother was a major fashion extravaganza, thanks to Samantha Faiers’ amazing wardrobe (remember her stunning black AQAQ dress, and the coral caped sleeve number). Big Brother fashion favourite Luisa Zissman also attracted the fashionistas with her stunning Alaia dresses, as did Jasmine Waltz with her fur collared coat. In this series we’ve already seen Lauren Goodger, Edele Lynch and Stephanie Pratt parade the contents of their suitcases – Lauren’s launch night jumpsuit, another AQAQ number, got her Twitter followers buzzing and Edele rocked one of the most popular outfits from Michelle Keegan’s Lipsy collection. Stephanie’s sold out heart motif sweater from Wildfox Couture (one of Sam’s designers of choice during last season’s show) has been trending this past week too. We predict that this series will at least generate he same amount of interest as the last one. It didn’t however fully pick up until the first live eviction, so we imagine our new female celeb housemates have got a show stopping frock or too up their sleeves.
