All the glitz and glam of Saturday night evenings is officially back on our screens thanks to Strictly Come Dancing. Tess was a hit with the female viewers in her monochrome Roksanda Ilincic gown. Her ‘classic’ and ‘elegant’ look can be easily channelled on the high street much to the delight of those fashion forward fans. Last year Tess dazzled us with Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney and a stunning array of Suzanne Neville gowns. We can’t wait to see what she’ll pull out of the bag this year. Of course, she’ll have competition from new host Claudia Winkleman who brought her classic black style to the table in a fab embellished Badgeley Mischka dress. Claudia seemed to have the edge over Tess last year, with viewers preferring her casual approach to formal wear so we’re eager to see how she will fair in the fashion stakes every weekend. Judge Darcey Bussell also kept the popular embellishment trend alive on the night. Interestingly, it was Caroline Flack’s costume that was the most sought after outfit on the show. She’s a Style On Screen favourite with a penchant for a pair of shorts. While there’s no way of getting your hands on Caroline’s custom made outfits, there’s plenty of sequin alternatives for her loyal followers to get their hands on. Never mind the ratings battle, we can’t wait for the ‘Saturday Night Gown Showdown’. Ladies of the X Factor, the gauntlet has been thrown!
TV Choice Awards
On Monday night, our favourite ladies of television took the red carpet by storm at the TV Choice Awards. As expected, embellishment took centre stage with TOWIE’s Lydia and Chloe rocking the look, while Jess Wright and Corrie’s Brooke Vincent obviously picked up the red carpet crop top trend memo. But it was the soap stars that reigned supreme as they quickly made their way up the best dressed lists. Our best dressed on the night included the popular Jacqueline Jossa who stunned in a gorgeous midnight blue Suzanne Neville gown. She was also a huge hit with the fans, many of whom were dying to get their hands on a similar look. The most talked about look of the night came courtesy of Michelle Keegan. It was a simple understated black body con dress with leather trim that really tickled her fans’ fancy. Susanna Reid and Nikki Sanderson brought a pop of colour to the event. GMB’s Susanna stood out in a bold red Gorgeous Couture number, while Hollyoaks’ Nikki stood tall in a sleek teal backless gown by Uno Ono.
Look out, there’s a new wave of Youtube fashionistas currently sweeping over the internet! Fashion favourites Zoe Sugg and Tanya Burr are still continuing to dominate the online on-screen world and they seemed to have paved the way for their fellow vlogging friends. Niomi Smart and Velvet Ghost aka Gabby are fast climbing the ranks as some of the most fashionable ladies on the internet and their subscribers are itching to get their hands on their wardrobes. Gabby’s pink Barbie jumper gained a big following recently and she’s also been getting a lot of thumbs up for her yellow lace insert jumper, which is now sadly sold out at Topshop. This week, her most requested and sought after look has been the sold out pink Jacquard coat from ZARA. (Thankfully, that trend is still going strong.) Brighton-based fashion blogger Niomi’s holiday wardrobe has been getting all the attention on Twitter and Youtube recently. Subscribers fell in love with her white summer dress from ASOS as well as her Oasis geometric print shorts. Niomi, much like Zoe and Tanya, is a fan of the crop top trend and her basic white bardot number has emerged as a must have amongst her followers. These fab four British vloggers might just knock the reality TV fashionistas off their top spot soon thanks to their affordable wardrobes and growing fan bases!
Nevermind #NYFW… it’s all about #KJFW! Kendall Jenner is officially the ‘IT Girl’ of Fashion Week after taking the runways by storm. In the past 4 days, we’ve seen her rock monochrome lace at Diane Von Furstenburg, bikinis at Tommy Hilfiger and midi skirts at Donna Karan. We’ve no doubt we’ll be seeing her take on the edgy stylings of Balmain and Givenchy in a few weeks. According to Kendall, we’re in for an exciting Spring ’15.
