We were lucky enough to grab a coffee with Gemma and have a good ol’ chinwag! See what she had to say!…
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself, how did you get into celebrity styling?
A: Long story – but from a super young age had a gigantic passion for fashion!! I was a director for Gucci Group and with them for almost 12 years – naturally I developed a lot of contacts and unwittingly I was styling them… It was all very organic.
Q: Have you always known you wanted to be a celebrity stylist?
A: I always knew I loved Fashion and I can truly say I totally Love my job, everyday is a treat and I am so blessed that I have a beautiful family and a career and make them both work. I love being my own boss and never take what I do for granted.
Q: Where does your inspiration come from?
A: People, Art, Life – Everyday surroundings!
Q: Who’s your favorite designer?
A: This is hard as I have so many but on a personal level for my own style, McQueen, Stella McCartney and YSL.
Q: Who would be your dream celeb to work with?
Q: Do you think social media has had an impact on celebrity inspired fashion?
A: HUGE and I love it, I think social media has been a business revelation – and it’s fun!!!
Q: Is it possible to dress on a budget?
A: Totally!!! – we have the best high street and it is awash with bargains and the ability to recreate catwalk looks at affordable prices. Likewise you can revamp an old look with a statement piece of jewellery – never feel the need to buy an entire new head to toe outfit! Look at how you can revamp the wardrobe with a few new statement pieces.
Q: What’s the best part of your job, and the worst?
A: I totally LOVE my job - I have a deep passion for fashion and I feel truly blessed that I do a job I simply adore – no two days are ever the same, I work in various mediums of the business from commercial television to editorial, stage tours with groups, pop videos and styling in front of the camera for FOX TV. I am also the face of Vision Express and Miele and this too also brings a very different angle of styling advise. Its so exciting to mix different industries together. Fashion is an art form. I don’t have a worst bit….
Q: What always ‘makes’ an outfit?
A: A fabulous pair of shoes!
